Unleashed is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1989 in Stockholm by bassist/vocalist Johnny Hedlund after leaving Nihilist. Known as one of the pioneers of the Swedish death metal scene, they combine brutal riffs with Viking and Norse mythology themes. Their debut, Where No Life Dwells (1991), became a genre classic. Unleashed has remained active for decades, releasing albums like Across the Open Sea (1993), Midvinterblot (2006), and No Sign of Life (2021), maintaining their raw, old-school sound.
